Finally got around to testing this baby out, which has been patiently been sitting atop my kitchen cabinet for a little over a month. Chef’s Basket is an interesting start up, targeting the more refined palate, without the hassle and painful process of scouring the city (in the monsoon, no less) to get your hands on that packet of El Paso tortillas, or Doritos’s extra hot chunky salsa or piquant jalapenos. This nifty kit solves the planning problem, and brings you a solution to your doorstep. Hygienically packaged, attractive visually, and a VERY attractive bottom! (see image below) Kudo’s to the Chef’s Basket team, by adding a bit of simplicity and fun into home cooking, without compromising on quality or nutrition. I am definitely looking forward to trying the other 2 kits that have been patiently awaiting their turn 🙂

Ingredients:
- 1 Chef’s Basket Burrito kit
- 1 cup homemade tomato salsa
- 1/2 cup Sour Cream (optional)
- 1/2 cup processed cheese
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
Method:
- Make the burritos according to package instructions.
- While assembling, keep everything ready in one place for efficient rolling. Sprinkle with some lettuce, sour cream, cheese and fresh salsa, for better flavour.

- I would recommend using homemade salsa, as the chipotle one in the kit didn’t quite cut it in terms of flavour and texture (not to mention the oil).
- You could even skip the rice, add stir fried vegetables with the spice mix provided for a fajita instead of the burrito, and have rice on the side.
- Handy when you have a hungry kid around, or surprise guests!
